Three Types of Popular Jewelry Displays on Sale
- Dec 31, 2018
If you own a jewelry store, or there’s a jewelry department inside of it then having jewelry displays such as busts are important to own. Rather than being laid out flat or hung on a slatwall display, jewelry displays give consumers a good idea of how the jewelry item will look when worn, without having somebody else have it on them.
Jewelry displays can be molded into necks, ears, fingers, and wrists, and can be used to display necklaces, chokers, earrings, rings, bracelets, brooches, and more. Some displays come in the form on hooks and bars, so that many jewelry items can be shown at once and can be displayed in front of some sort of light, so that they can demonstrate how shiny and/or translucent they are.
There are three popular materials of jewelry displays that you can buy: Black velvet, white leather, and colored linen. We will show you the strengths and weaknesses of each color and material, hoping that you can make a sound decision on which display will work for you the best.
Black Velvet
Black velvet jewelry displays look sexy and luxurious. They make jewelry look more spiffy than normal, and lots of jewelry items greatly contrast in front of black. Velvet is a fabric that feels smooth and relaxing, which gives consumers vibes of comfort.
Black velvet can also blend in well with many types of jewelry. Gold and silver look very shiny, the colors on beads and gemstones will stand out, and black overall simply makes a select number of jewelry items easier to see.
The downsides to black velvet are that they will not work on all types of jewelry. Black and brown jewelry will almost look invisible, like black corded necklaces or black beaded bracelets. Since a lot of jewelry is made in black, this is not the best type of display that you can display it in. Furthermore, velvet attracts dust and lint over time, making it necessary to clean now and then.
Pros:
Looks Luxurious
Has Great Contrast
Cons:
Not Ideal for Black Jewelry
Needs to Be Maintained
White Leather
White leather has that professional, textured look that makes jewelry look more-classy and sophisticated than luxurious. Leather can also give off feelings of comfort.
White leather jewelry displays can show off nearly any piece of jewelry well. Black jewelry looks very pleasing and colored jewelry look as good as ever.
Compared to black velvet, however, metal jewelry just won’t look as good, as leather can suppress a lot of that shine. White can also be a haven to stains and discoloration, making it very important to clean and maintain.
Pros:
Looks Professional
Works great for all colors of jewelry
Cons:
Not Ideal for Metal Jewelry
White can discolor into yellow
Linen
Linen is the most natural looking. You can put this type of display in many different stores. Furthermore, any type of jewelry will look great in front of it, just as long as it isn’t in the same exact color. Linen simply makes jewelry look new, clean, and fresh, whereas velvet and leather can both make jewelry look aged if it’s not maintained properly.
The problem with linen is thatit won’t create that high-end feeling in your store. While it can display jewelry well it will make your store feel rustic and natural You’ll find more displays in velvet and leather than linen.
Pros:
Looks Clean
Creates a rustic feelingWorks with anycolor of Jewelry
Cons:
Selection of Displays are Limited
