Direct Thermal Labels are a perfect fit for any retailer looking for a simple label to help with shipping, barcoding, inventory tracking & more! Unlike Thermal Transfer Labels, Direct Thermal labels DO NOT require a ribbon, ink or toner for printing. Instead, when the label passes over the thermal print head in your machine the ink in the label is activated by the heat. Although Direct Thermal labels are an economical way of labeling, they are not recommended for high-contact use and are sensitive to light which will cause them to fade quicker over time. For high contact labels check out our Thermal Transfer Labels. Direct Thermal Labels however, are great for creating simple labels in large quantities and are very cost effective. Since they use no thermal ribbon, they are also a more environmentally friendly option compared to Thermal Transfer Labels.
