Tricks and Tips to Organize Anything With Pegboard

Here are some tips to help you with your pegboard:

Pegboard

Pegboard Specifics:

All pegboards come in 2 different styles, small and large. The small hole pegboard is ideal for small and lightweight objects, while the thicker board will accommodate heavy tools. The large hole pegboards work great in heavy application areas like garages.

Lock the Hooks:

If you do not lock the hooks on the pegboard, they will definitely fall out. To avoid this, you can use zip ties (inexpensive option), pegboard clips, or apply hot melt glue to the peg before slipping it through the board.

Hefty Standoffs:

If your pegboard does not come with a ready-made inbuilt space for hook insertion, you can install standoffs by using screws with spacers. Another option is to employ frames that are 3 feet or wider at the back of the board spacing them at 2 feet.

Hold More By Adding Hooks:

If you are ingenious enough, you could hang stuff that cannot hang directly on the hooks of the pegboard. Some ideas you could use include using binder clips to grab pouches for other items, or a PVC pipe on a hook to carry thin things like pencils and brushes.

Other Pegboard Material Options:

Most people use pegboards made of hardboard materials not knowing there are other options in the market. There are also plastic and metal pegboards which are more sturdy and made to be heavy duty.

Hang Everything You Desire:

Hooks are the standard hanging options, however there are specialized hangers as well. Doodads, circular saw shelves, wire baskets, drill holders are a few examples you could use in a hardware store.

Bespoke Shelving:

You can also create shelves using L-hooks or cable staples to hold your special items on. With the staples attaching plywood to the pegboard, you can slide the shelf to the best position for your use.

Dress It Up:

To improve on the plain black and white colors pegboards, you can roll a primer coat and add on a glossy paint on it. Your application should be light to avoid clogging the holes.

Pegboards Behind the Doors:

Get extra storage by installing pegboards at the back of your doors in the kitchen, wardrobes, and bathroom cabinets by use of pegboard accessories. The edge of the door will help in holding the pegboard in place.
